BAck in the 1960s they had a marching band that won a national competition. A promoter in Scandanavia offered to pay their way over plus chaperones and equipment for two weeks. They were so wildly popular that they spent several more weeks touring through-out Europe. I bumped into them at the Tivoli Gardens in Denmark where I got the gist of the story from a Mom holding some of their coats. Four Decades later I visited Snohomish and told my story to school staff and a color reporter for the local newspaper.

O/A 1967 I ws in Copenhagen's Tivoli Gardens and hear what could only be an American High School Marching Band tuning up. I stepped around the corner and there it was, the Snohomish H.S. Marching band. After 2 isolated years in the Near East the impact of such an American culture icon was powerful. I swore an oath that someday I would visit Snohomish. Forty years later I did, visited the school, and told my story to a reporter at the local paper.
